The
links below are sites and resources where you can obtain reliable
information on Australian Shepherds. On the "Links" page of this
website are listings of pages that are related to training or other
areas not specifically related to Aussies.
Web Sites:
The Australian Shepherd Club of
America (ASCA) This site has many pages that are extremely
important to read, if you are considering buying your first Aussie.
I would recommend
you read the "Prospective Owner" pages on this site.
There you will find more information on what to look for
in an Aussie, as
well as how to select a breeder.
The
American Kennel Club (AKC) This page is linked directly to
the Australian Shepherd page of the AKC.
Worldwide
Aussie Breeders This is one of the largest
listing of Australian Shepherd breeders that I know of worldwide.
This page lists breeders by location.
Australian Shepherd Club
of San Diego County Links to Aussie breeders, show information,
and a variety of other Aussie related links.
Aussie Rescue in Southern
California is a networking of several
different rescue volunteers, some affiliated with a national rescue
group, some doing Aussie Rescue privately, all working towards
helping Aussie and Aussie mixes finding new homes. Many of them
are victims of divorce, loss of job or home, and some are
just in the wrong homes for them. Please check out the rescue website
to see some wonderful Aussies in Southern California needing new
homes, as well as information about the breed, to make sure it
is the right one for you.
Australian Shepherd Health & Genetics
Institute This is the best authority I have seen on the possible
genetic health problems of Australian Shepherds. Additional health
information is available on the ASCA link above.
Australian
Shepherd Illustrated Breed Standard This page shows what is meant
by all of the terms referred to in the Australian Shepherd Breed
Standard.
