BlueMyst is
located in Riverside County in Southern California. Our goal
is to produce Australian Shepherds that are healthy, intelligent,
athletic, with a desire to please, as well as having the traits
listed in
the
breed standard. We are a registered kennel with the Australian
Shepherd Club of America (ASCA). We are also members of the Australian
Shepherd Club of San Diego County and the Orange Empire Dog Club.
We do not breed
any of our dogs unless they are at least 2 years old, with an
OFA certification of good or excellent,
and having eyes recently checked as normal.
We have had
only two litters of puppies prior to this litter. Out
of each litter we have kept a puppy. From our first litter we
kept Misty, a blue
merle
female. From our second litter we kept Sonny, a black
tri male. From this litter we are keeping Annie, a blue merle
female. We have had contact with almost all of the people who
purchased
puppies
from
our
litters, and all puppies and owners are extremely happy.
We bought our
first Aussie in 1999. We have been amazed by the breed's intelligence
and devotion to their owners. All of our dogs are a part of the
family and have free run of our full acre of property. Training
in agility and obedience is an ongoing process with all of our
Aussies.
Training an
Aussie is imperative. Either you train
your Aussie, or your Aussie will attempt to train you ( and
they are very good at it). Positive training methods work best.
We
use clicker training with our dogs and puppies. Puppies are
allowed to go to their new homes at
8 weeks.
By then they will have their beginning shots and will be taught
some of the basic obedience commands.
If you choose
to purchase an Aussie from us or another breeder, you should
know that Aussies are addictive. Before buying
an Aussie, please do your homework. There is a lot of great information
on the ASCA web page. When
you find a breeder with puppies, read their sales contract closely,
and ask questions
about health, personality, structure of the parents and each
of the pups.
